2012 MOBO Awards

Since the inception of the MOBO awards in 1995 Hip-Hop and R&B have been recognized and celebrated as a growing force within the music industry. Acts such as Emeli Sandé, Rita Ora, Plan B, Nicki Minaj and Labrinth have all been recipients of awards this year. Miquita Oliver and Adam Deacon presented the awards which saw Emilie Sandé scooping three prizes for; Best Female Act, Best Album and Best R&B/Soul artist. While Plan B nabbed the awards for Best Male Act and Best Hip-Hop artist; JLS walked only walked away with the Best Video award. Nicki Minaj also managed to grab herself an award in the form of Best International act. Without a doubt Emeli Sandé was the highlight of the evening atop performances from fellow artists such as; Trey Songz, Conor Maynard, Misha B, JLS, Angel, Stooshe, Labrinth and Wiley. Her album ”Our Version of Events” debuted at number one on the charts cementing her place as one of the best talents that 2012 had to offer, and she looks set to repeat her amazing performance again next year.

Best Male Act: Plan B
Best Newcomer: Rita Ora
Best International: Nicki Minaj
